Jeffrey M. Schaff

FOUNDER & TRIAL ATTORNEY

With nearly two dozen civil and criminal jury trials in Sacramento Superior Court, Yolo County, Placer County, El Dorado County, San Joaquin, and Stanislaus County, Jeff’s comfort in the courtroom makes him particularly well suited to protect your interests. He has litigated countless personal injury matters from start to finish, taken 100s of depositions, and has tried multiple cases to verdict as lead counsel. He understands that each and every case is as unique as the client he represents.

Jeff began representing criminal defendants in 2006 as intern at the Sacramento County Public Defenders’ Office. For the next 6 years, he made a name for himself in Sacramento as a competent criminal trial lawyer.

He then went on to represent first responders, including law enforcement and fire fighters, accused of wrongdoing.  This helped his behind the scenes understanding of law enforcement agencies and how they operate. In 2013, seeking to expand his knowledge of the law, Jeff went in-house with one of the nation’s largest insurance companies. For the next five years Jeff learned how insurance companies and their lawyers work to minimize an individual’s injuries and limit recovery. In 2019, Jeff decided it was time to help those most in need, those who had been injured in car accidents, dog bite incidents, medical malpractice mishandlings, and other personal injury cases. He believes that each client needs attention, compassion and zealous advocacy from their lawyer. Today, Jeff aims to combine all of his expertise to represent a wide variety of clients.

In June 2023, Jeff was inducted into the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA). ABOTA is a prestigious, invitation-only organization of experienced trial attorneys and judges. Membership in ABOTA requires at least 10 civil jury trials (to jury verdict or hung jury) as lead counsel, plus at least five years of active experience as a trial attorney. Jeff’s ABOTA membership is one of his proudest professional accomplishments and reflects his passions for trial work and client service.

If he is not in the courtroom, you can find Jeff in the kitchen or outdoors finding the next meal.

Diesel

JUNIOR PAWTNER / CUDDLE KING

Diesel is a rescue dog from Finding A Best Friend dog rescue. The Schaffs began fostering Diesel after the big storms ruined his backyard access at the shelter.  He quickly won them over, especially Meredith, who normally is a cat person.  He became a permanent fixture of their family in March of 2023.  He quickly learned he enjoys the good life of snuggling on couches, being smothered by children and eating faster than most people can breathe.
